At the time of this article, even though I travel frequently around Mexico, I have made Ajijic my home base for the time. I love the community and the people are amazing.
In this article, we are going to share a little bit about the Lake Chapala Society (LCS) in Ajijic, and why you should consider joining should you find yourself in the area.
Note: LCS was one of the first community and social groups recommended to be by locals and expats alike in the area – so of course, I had to check it out.
Brief History of Lake Chapala Society
The Lake Chapala Society has a rich history that dates back over six decades. It was founded in 1955 by a group of expatriates who recognized the need for a gathering place and support network for the growing expat community in Ajijic, a charming town located on the shores of Lake Chapala in Mexico.

The Lake Chapala Society is located on the street called “16 de Septiembre” in Ajijic, Mexico.
This street is one of the main thoroughfares in the town and is easily accessible for residents and visitors alike.
