The opportunity to visit Europe opened up this summer and I said, “Oh, Yes!” and made plans, booked my flight as I wanted to continue my solo journey traveling and marking off places that I wanted to visit for some time.
My traveling excursion in Europe on this trip concentrated mainly in Barcelona, Spain but I ventured down to the Sitges and Olivella area for a few days and it was such a great experience and highly recommended.

Olivella is located about 9 miles inland from Sitges (up in the mountains), making it a short drive from this popular coastal town.
I saw this great place up in the mountains of Olivella and could not resist. Many people ask me how I choose my accomodations, and while I have a method to it, one website I use is booking.com.
How to Get to Olivella from Barcelona via Train
1. Depart from Barcelona Sants Station
Start your journey at Barcelona Sants, the main train station in the city. You can easily reach Barcelona Sants by taking a local metro or taxi (or Uber) from your accommodation.
2. Purchase Your Ticket
At the station, buy a ticket for the train to Sitges. You can purchase tickets at the station or in advance online through Renfe, Spain’s national railway service, or other ticketing platforms. Be sure to check the schedule for departure times.
I waited until I arrived then spoke to the attendant and purchased on site.
3. Board the Train to Sitges
Catch the train heading to Sitges. Trains to Sitges are usually direct and offer a comfortable, scenic ride through the Catalonian countryside. The journey typically takes around 30-40 minutes.
4. Arrive at the Sitges Station
Upon arrival at Sitges, exit the train station. From here, you’ll need to complete the final leg of your trip by car or taxi to reach Olivella.
5. Take a Taxi to Olivella
For the last part of your journey, take a local taxi or drive if you’ve rented a car. The drive from Sitges to Olivella takes approximately 20 minutes. The route offers beautiful views of the countryside, making it a pleasant transition from the coastal town to the serene mountainside.
Note: Taxis are plentiful in Sitges, but it may be more challenging to locate a taxi in Olivella to take you to Sitges. If you are going to stay in Olivella for an extended time, it may be best to rent a local car.
